BOW THE KNEE
An Easter Musical/Drama
Easter at Liberty Bible Church is all about the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For three days LBC presents this amazing presentation at Skyview High School. A cast of over 100 tells this story as seen through the eyes of a Roman Centurion. From the music, sets, drama, costumes and effects, everything comes together to tell the story in a way that grips the audience and draws the into the greatest story ever told. Bow the Knee is a tremendous presentation to view and share with friends. It is even better to participate in! We are always looking for singers, actors, stage hands, decorators, builders, technicians, support staff and anyone who is interested in being a part.
Jesus came into the world in very humble circumstance. A young unwed mother, an honorable step-father and a poor hard working family. Hardly a grand entrance for the Son of God, but one that many of us can identify with. Jesus knew poverty, hard times, social ridicule, unfair treatment and want. He also knew the love of a mother, sharing with siblings, growing up in a family. He was no stranger to hard work and responsibility. He dealt with temptation and pressure. Sounds like many of us!
Remember getting in trouble with your mom? Even Jesus had to be corrected by his parents. He understands and knows what we deal with because He has lived here too. He knows very well how hard life can be whether you are a kid, teenager or adult. Sometimes we look at God as being far away and uninvolved. We wonder where He is when we are dealing with life. the truth is that He is right here with us. The Bible says that He will never leave us or forsake us. We can count on Him.
Ever felt misunderstood? Ever been frustrated by the people around you? Jesus' message to the world created all kinds of reactions around Him. He lived and preached forgiveness, turning from sin, grace and mercy, the restoration of people's lives, loving and following God, personal relationship with God and meeting the needs of others. These teachings created both followers and enemies. His followers were those who were thirsty for real meaning in their lives and a genuine faith. His enemies were those threatened by the truth and the fear of losing control and position. Any of this hitting home? Sounds like the world we live in today.
Thankfully, Jesus stayed true to His calling and his love for all of us. He called together a close group of friends and taught them everything he could so they could join Him spreading the truth of the Gospel message. Even when one of them betrayed Him He never waivered.
Sometimes in life we will be betrayed, or hurt or offended by people. Because the church is made of people it will happen there too. People will disappoint you. We affect each other with our actions but our relationship with God is not based on people. It is based on a decision and belief in who God is and what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross and paying the penalty for our sins.
The Bible says that, "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." It also says, "the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is enternal life.
We all have sinned and need to be forgiven of those sins. The penalty is too high a price for us to pay so Jesus paid it for us. By asking for forgiveness of our sins and accepted Jesus as our Savior we are made right before God.
It is not the purpose off the church to say, "Get yourself right with God and then we can talk." The beauty of the Gospel is that it comes to people right where they are and says, "I love you and accept you. How can I help you with what you need." Jesus didn't say, "Fix your problems and then come and see me." He accepted them and helped them with their immediate need and then told them to change direction.
At LBC we believe that's how the church should operate. Help, restoration, grace, mercy forgiveness and turning from sin. Jesus did it that way and so that is what we strive to do.
LBC is not a perfect place, but it is full of people who have been through lots of life. They have been helped by a church family that walks with them. They have experienced grace and mercy and forgiveness. Lives have been restored. Sin is not in control - God is!
That's where the passion for sharing the Story comes from. Personal experience.
Jesus may have died on the cross for our sins, but He rose from the dead and is alive today! We serve a risen Savior that has defeated the power of sin and death! We will see heaven one day and live there with Jesus for all of eternity! This is the promised gift of God. It real and true, and can be absolutely counted upon.
Bow the Knee tells this message in a powerful way that impacts people where they are. We are passionate about the message and sharing it with our community. If this is something that you would like to be a part of we want you to join us.
